The desire to have a perfect smile is something we understand at Tropic Dental. Sadly, this can be a challenge when our lifestyles have a negative impact on their appearance. From smoking to drinking coffee and soda, many normal day-to-day actions gradually have the effect of deeply staining tooth enamel. Luckily, it is possible to continue with normal routines and achieve that beautiful white smile. Veneers are thin shells that can be bonded onto the front-facing teeth to give them a full and natural-colored appearance.
Besides helping to resolve the problem of badly stained teeth, veneers can also be used to repair the appearance of chipped or broken teeth. Because the shells are customized, they can make up for most sizes of missing pieces of teeth and restore both appearance and function. Let us look at other key benefits of veneers.
Reasons to Invest in Veneers
As already mentioned, veneers can be used to turn badly stained teeth into uniform pearly whites. This can be a big boost in appearance and confidence for a person. Many people with badly stained teeth will shy away from talking or smiling in front of others and cameras. Once their teeth are, however in a healthier-looking state, it makes them more comfortable in social situations.
For those with sometimes small teeth that seem out of place amongst more normal-sized teeth, veneers can help fill in the gap and provide a uniformly sized smile. With even minor misalignment problems, veneers can prove to be a quick and effective solution. This is in comparison to other options like braces that can take many months to yield results.
Another benefit of veneers is that they typically take just 1-3 sessions to be installed. It is a quick and easy process, with most procedures not requiring anesthesia.
How Veneers Are Done
After a consultation with our team to determine if veneers are the way to go, the first session will typically involve some filing down of the tooth. This is so as to prepare the surface of the tooth for bonding and create room for the shell. The amount of top layer enamel that is removed is very little, just enough so the shell can be fitted on.
Anesthesia is rarely used when filing, but if the patient experiences tooth sensitivity, then numbing the area can help make the process more comfortable for them. Once this is completed, we will take an impression of the tooth. This is sent to the lab where our technician will get to work creating the veneer. The veneer will be color-matched to other teeth to ensure a natural look.
During a second visit, once the veneer is ready, we will check to see if you are happy with the look of the veneer over your tooth before using a special adhesive to bond it properly. A third visit will be booked for about a week later when we will check that you have become adjusted to the new tooth and possibly polish it.
Recovering your confidence by being able to smile with a full set of healthy-looking teeth is a goal we can help you with. Make an appointment with us at Tropic Dental at (239) 244-1555 today.
